Issue #12

CEO Corner

Greetings!

Every time I sit down to write this message there's something new and exciting to report, and that's what we love to see here at CDS Monarch. The people we serve are active, even as the weather begins to cool down, and we continue to do our best to ensure that everyone remains happy, healthy, and independent. From seniors staying active in their classes to our Veterans in Warrior Salute, we have a lot to be proud of here, and we have a lot of people to thank.

As we approach Thanksgiving, I like to reflect upon the people who have made all of this possible. From our dedicated staff to the generous people who consistently give us their support, I appreciate everything you do. This company thrives on innovation and giving back to those who need it, and I'm proud to be a part of it.

I hope you have a great holiday.

Sincerely,

Sankar Sewnauth
President/CEO

“I cannot stress enough how much Nucor’s support has helped to provide beneficial services to our nation’s Veterans,” CDS Monarch President/CEO, Sankar Sewnauth said. “This generous donation will ensure Veterans receive the personalized rehabilitative and case management services that will help them transition successfully back into their communities. CDS Monarch Teams up with Genesee Community College

From the Webster Post:

CDS Monarch’s Without Walls, which provides opportunities for drama, music and art therapy, recently partnered with the Genesee Community College human services department.

The collaboration will feature memory and problem-solving games created by GCC students and played by individuals from CDS Monarch, which assists individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, veterans and seniors.

“This partnership between Genesee Community College and the people we serve will provide valuable experience for the students while continuing the growing and learning process of our individuals,” said Sankar Sewnauth, CDS Monarch president/CEO. “By working together, the GCC students are able to exercise the skills they may very well use in a similar employment situation, and the people we serve can continue to grow and make connections in the community.”

Seniors Get Fit At CDS Monarch Senior Living

One of the many great things the residents have at their disposal at CDS Monarch Senior Living is chair exercise classes. It can be difficult to stay fit as we age, but the seniors at our Lewis Wolf Blvd. facility aren't afraid to get to the community room and get their exercises in. This not only helps them to stay in shape, but it also gives them the opportunity to get to know their neighbors.

Halloween at CDS Monarch

Halloween is always an especially festive time at CDS Monarch. Staff and individuals go all out with spiderweb decorations crawling with plastic spiders and, on the day before Halloween, staff and individuals don their best Halloween costumes. The individuals at our Woodside residence, pictured left, did a great job of embracing the Halloween spirit with their costumes. And staff member at the Wolf Life Transitions Center held a Halloween contest.

Ultimately, everyone had a great Halloween!
