CDS Life Transitions Connection
the personal touch

January 16, 2017

Greetings!

Last year proved to be an exceptional year for us as we launched CDS Life Transitions, the parent company that supports CDS Monarch, iCircle, Unistel Industries, CDS Housing, Warrior Salute Veteran Services and the CDS Wolf Foundation. We saw successes at all of these companies throughout 2016 and we plan to see continued growth and success this year as well.

As we enter 2017, I am very excited to share that this is our 40th year as a company. We started in 1977 with a group of families who came together looking to create better options for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they transitioned into adulthood. These families established the beginnings of Continuing Developmental Services (now known as CDS Monarch). The following year, CDS Monarch’s first residence opened in Henrietta, and later that same year we launched our first day program. From there, the company continued to diversify, launching Unistel Industries to provide vocational opportunities and training, in addition to opening more residences and supported apartments. We also created Warrior Salute Veteran Services to help our service men and women with post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury and military sexual trauma reintegrate into their communities; we started CDS Housing to provide integrated housing for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and seniors; in collaboration with intellectual and developmental disability providers in Upstate NY we established iCircle to provide managed care and help keep people in their communities; and the CDS Life Transitions parent company to provide strategic oversight and give each company more of their own identity.

We have come a long way since 1977, and we aren't slowing down. I hope you will stay with us as we continue on our journey of helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, people with chronic illnesses, seniors and veterans live and thrive in their communities. We are kicking off a yearlong celebration in honor of our 40th anniversary in 2017, hosting events and sharing stories, and I hope you will join us along the way. Our first big community event is the CDS Wolf Foundation’s 10th Annual Strikes for Abilities Bowling Party on March 5th - come out and be a part of the celebration!

Wishing you all the best for 2017!

Kind regards,
