Handicapables Practice Wheelchair Safety at Wheelchair Rodeo

The Handicapables, a group of individuals receiving services at CDS Monarch, practiced safely maneuvering their wheelchairs through a course designed by CDS Monarch staff. This exercise was designed to increase the individuals' wheelchair mobility and their overall safety awareness to create a safer environment for everyone. This is just one of many initiatives CDS Monarch takes to keep safety as one of our top priorities! After going through the course, the Handicapables practiced backing up onto the van lift. Everyone did a great job!

The work floor has been using 3-D Lego sets of iconic buildings from around the world, like the Empire State Building, the United Nations Building and the Sydney Opera House to help with these skills.  Each Lego set comes with a booklet of directions accompanied by pictures to show how many of what piece is needed as well as where it should be assembled on the model.
