PROVIDER NETWORK NEWS

Issue #20

Message from the Board

With summer upon us, we know many of our providers may be wondering where we are in the process of becoming an approved DISCO. OPWDD released a June monthly update stating, later this year they plan to formally solicit DISCO applications through the RFA process to those 35 organizations intending to apply. In the meantime, iCircle is staying focused on planning and development of a Central New York region DISCO. Members of the Board and work teams have begun meeting to finalize organizational and regional infrastructure, as well as, develop advisory councils. If you would like to recommend individuals and/or families from your agency for the advisory council, please contact info@icirclefl.org. We have also continued to build the Syracuse area network by welcoming almost 20 new providers who serve that region.

We look forward to keeping you updated each week. Enjoy this week’s Provider Spotlights!

Update: Transformation Agreement

OPWDD provided an update on implementation of the approved Transformation Agreement with the federal CMS. The following are immediate deliverables and priorities identified:

  • Grow Competitive Employment by a net of 700 individuals.
  • Reach 1,500 individuals by the end of June with an overview of self-direction.
  • Transition 148 individuals out of Taconic and Finger Lakes ICF and into community-based settings by January 2014.
  • Create a plan and timeline to transition residents from remaining campus settings to non-campus based ICF’s to community settings.

Other initiatives are in the formation stages that focus on pathways to employment, crisis intervention, money follows the person outreach, and validity testing of assessment tools.
